Privacy Policy for Soll
Application: Soll • Package: com.muraimai.soll • Last updated: March 9, 2026
The Short Version
Soll is built to keep your reading on your device. Your library, highlights, bookmarks, and reading progress are stored locally on your device (Android, Apple, Windows, Linux), not on our servers. We don't sell your data, and we don't run ads. This page explains the specific, limited data that does leave your device, and why.
What stays on your device
- Your library. Imported book files, or references to files you've chosen from your device's storage, stay local to your device.
- Reading progress, highlights, bookmarks, and notes. All stored locally in Soll's app storage.
- Reader settings. Font, theme, Focus Tool preferences, and playback pace, saved locally, including per-book preferences.
- Reading statistics. Your pace, streaks, sessions, and reading insights are calculated and stored on your device.
If you use Soll's backup feature, a backup file containing this data is created and stored wherever you choose to save it — we do not receive a copy.
What leaves your device
- Discover searches. When you search or browse in Discover, your search terms are sent to the relevant public catalog (Project Gutenberg, Open Library, Standard Ebooks, or Feedbooks) to return results. These are independent services; Soll is not affiliated with them. See our note on third-party sources below.
- Book downloads. Files you choose to download through Discover, or from a Calibre server or OPDS catalog you connect, are transferred directly from that source to your device.
- Subscription and purchase status. If you purchase or subscribe to Soll Premium, purchase information is processed through the platform's official billing system (such as Google Play, Apple App Store, or direct license providers) and verified through our subscription management provider, RevenueCat. This includes a device/purchase identifier, not your personal reading data.
- Text-to-speech. Soll uses your device's built-in text-to-speech engine. Depending on your device and settings, some TTS engines (for example, certain higher-quality voices) may process text through your device manufacturer's own service. This is controlled by your device's operating system, not by Soll.
- Crash and performance data. If enabled, basic crash reports may be collected to help us fix bugs. These reports do not include your book content, highlights, or personal reading data.
Third-party sources in Discover and Connected Libraries
Soll's Discover feature surfaces books from Project Gutenberg, Open Library (Internet Archive), Standard Ebooks, and Feedbooks. Soll's Connected Libraries feature can connect to a Calibre server or OPDS catalog you provide. Soll is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these services. Each source has its own terms and privacy practices, and your interactions with them (searches, downloads) are subject to those services' own policies where applicable.
Data you can delete
You can remove any book, highlight, bookmark, or note at any time from within the app. Uninstalling Soll removes all locally stored app data from your device, except for any backup files you've separately saved outside the app.
Children's privacy
Soll includes an optional, PIN-protected Parental Controls feature that filters mature content from Discover results by default. Soll does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will address it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where required, notify you within the app.
